Frustrated by not having a vehicle that matched his active lifestyle, adventurer and wildlife photographer Bill Swails took to heavily modifying his trusty Dodge Ram with custom fittings and features to undertake extended off-grid trips without sacrificing comfort, space, or off-grid prowess. By 2003, the first production ""EarthRoamer"" was complete: a modified Ford F-450 designed from the top down to provide both a luxurious and autonomous experience. With the new EarthRoamer, travelers could adeptly navigate extreme conditions and virtually eliminate their dependence on fixed locations for electric, water, and sewage hookups.
